Hewitt Hall

The existing Hewitt Hall on SUNY Oswego’s campus spent many years as a concrete-encased hub for student services before the campus decided to turn the outdated building into a state-of-the-art facility to house the School of Communication & Media Arts. Our team completed a study of the course schedule and lively visioning sessions with the departments to determine appropriate program pieces to fit into this new campus hub. The result is a programmatic organization that leverages shared space, makes the best use of existing architecture, and allows for strategic collaborative openings in the center of the deep floor plate. The technical spaces came into focus through repeated user meetings with all departments, gaining consensus through simple and info-packed graphic representations of the spaces.
